James Holmes

James enjoys a diverse practice of oil and gas cases and related transactional and regulatory work, business cases and transactional work, real-estate and contract disputes, and close-corporation and shareholder-oppression cases. Apart from his business expertise, he has handled many tort cases involving wrongful death and catastrophic injury. James was born, raised and educated in Texas. Before practicing law in Dallas, he earned his Bachelor of Science from Trinity University in San Antonio and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he served as an Editor on the Texas Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif. Following law school, James worked as a judicial clerk for The Texas Supreme Court, for Associate Justice Nathan Hecht, who is now Chief Justice and is the longest-serving Justice in the history of the Court.

James is an active member of several professional associations, including AAJ and the Dallas Bar Association. He is chair of the AAJ’s Oil and Gas Litigation Section, which he formed. For the University of Texas System, he is member of the Chancellor’s Council, the 1881 Society, and the Ashbel Smith Circle. He serves on the Dallas Steering Committee for the University of Texas School of Law.

In addition to his law practice, James operates Robur LLC, an oil and gas first purchaser and marketer. He also manages Robur Capital, L.P., a value-investing style investment partnership. James's concurrent focus on his business activities and his commercial law practice gives him a unique, superior viewpoint on his clients' legal needs and solutions therefor.

Andrea Seldowitz

Andrea is an associate attorney for Holmes PLLC. She works in the areas of commercial litigation and business transactions, with a particular focus on oil and gas and consumer law. She regularly attends to the firm's motion practice, discovery activities, depositions and hearings, and jury trials.

Andrea was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She obtained a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (Finance) from Southern Methodist University. She next obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law, where she served as Executive Articles Editor for the Energy Law Journal and as Vice-President for the Resource, Energy and Environmental Law Society. While in law school, she obtained a certificate in Sustainable Energy and Resources Law.

Andrea is an active member of the Dallas Bar Association.

ROBIN MCCORMACK

Robin is a paralegal for Holmes PLLC. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Texas at Dallas, graduating cum laude while working full time as James’s paralegal.

Robin has accompanied James as lead paralegal to many trials and hearings. She serves also as the Firm’s landman for its oil and gas matters. She has extensive business and transactional expertise in domestic upstream and midstream oil and gas sectors, having worked on many litigation and transactional projects in that arena.

Robin was born in Dallas and raised in Ennis, Texas. She currently resides in North Oak Cliff.
